Why did Jesus Live?

Let’s talk about Jesus’ life shortly to understand what I am asking.  Jesus lived a sinless life.  This was absolutely necessary for his death to take the place or ours.

That’s not all He did while He lived.  He spoke with wisdom and understanding well beyond everyone that had spent their life studying the scriptures.  He met people with unconditional love, a love that was beyond what was required by God’s law…His own law that was given in the Old Testament.  The last thing I want to talk about is the miraculous life that Jesus lived…healings, raising from the dead, cleansing the lepers, walking on water, changing water to wine…and many, many more (John 21:25 -Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.)

Why did He live this way?  We know He had to live sinless for His death to take the place of ours.  But, that is all that is needed to give us eternal life.  He didn’t need to teach with profound wisdom, love unconditionally, or do any miracles to accomplish our eternal salvation.  We know He didn’t live this way so that we would all look at Him and see how amazing God is.  The reason we know this is because many times after Jesus healed someone His words were, ‘Don’t tell anyone.’  God doesn’t brag about Himself…He doesn’t have to.  One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord…He didn’t need to brag then, that day will come.

Why did Jesus live the life He lived as a man?  He is the ultimate teacher. Yes, He lived sinless to take our place in death.  But, His life was a 33 year sermon, teaching us how to live life.  How do we live life?  Seeking and gaining understanding and wisdom (Proverbs 4:7).  Love unconditionally (Luke 10:27).  Life of Miracles (Matthew 10:8).

What is the purpose of this post? We always hear teachings about gaining wisdom and understanding, and sermons on love.  But, the miraculous life is left out because it offends people, or it scares people.  Jesus said, ‘Blessed is He who is not offended by me.’  And, while we are to have the fear of the Lord, and that does mean ‘fear’ not just reverence, nothing from God should ever fear us.

So, you might be saying, ‘Jesus was (IS) the son of God, of course He can perform miracles…He was (IS) God.’  So, the argument I hear against that is then what about the apostles.  And, the answer I hear for their miracles is that the Apostles experienced some sort of extra annointing because they were growing the church from scratch.  Here’s the complete answer, and it will be in the form of a 3 questions:

HOW MANY MIRACLES DID JESUS PERFORM AS THE SON OF GOD? Answer – ZERO!

HOW MANY MIRACLES DID JESUS PERFORM BECAUSE HE WAS (IS) GOD? Answer – ZERO!

HOW MANY MIRACLES DID JESUS PERFORM AS A MAN LIVING WITH THE INDWELLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? Answer – ALL OF THEM. (Acts 10:38)

***How do we know we are supposed to life full of power and miracles? – Romans 15:19 – “They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the power of God’s Spirit.[a] In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illyricum.”

I do not have a practicing life of the miraculous.  It is not my job, nor is it within my ability to create the miraculous.  However, I believe it is my job,my obligation as a follower of Christ, to make sure that the environment and faith for the miraculous follow me everywhere I go.
